    Options for Youth TV

What is the “OPTIONS for Youth” television show?

It is a teen driven television show produced through OPTIONS: Community Services Society (OPTIONS). Our half hour show is comprised of 4 minute edited segments that highlight topics that are of interest and concern to youth of all backgrounds. The show was preceded by another youth produced show called “Gen Why?” which was broadcast throughout the Lower Mainland for 25 years - making it the longest running show on Shaw Cable, Channel Four!

Examples of past topics:

Anxiety, depression, dealing with racism, autism, travelling options after high school, study tips, grad fashion, bullying, buying your first car, and relationships.

What are the three main goals of the show?

1. To be youth focused, unbiased and informative plus being relevant, entertaining and engaging to the audience.

2. To produce segments that will help youth audiences make positive life decisions and to aid the adult viewers in understanding youth culture.

3. In addition to providing relevant and important information to the community, teens are also given the worthwhile and exciting opportunity and experience of being involved in television production.
