Ballet, Sewing, and Making a Difference

On this episode we learn about sewing and designing our own clothes at La Movida, in Vancouver.  Next, we meet a teen who is helping to end the cycle of poverty for other teens in the Lower Mainland.  Then, we go behind the scenes with the Royal City Youth Ballet in New Westminster to witness a most fantastic performance of The Nutcracker.  Next, we have two amazing films by 'Reel Youth' that give Indigenous teens a voice; and then finally, we meet a student whose "Vancouver Care Project" is helping to bring awareness to the amazing stories of the community that live in the Downtown Eastside.

Teens and Animals

Teens are connecting with animals and nature like never before! In our first story, we meet a teen dog trainer who has a special bond with her dog.   We also catch up with a group of teens who enjoy the adventure of birdwatching, and the photos they have taken are amazing!   In this episode, we also get a back stage pass, and meet with the talented Young Shakespeareans at Bard on the Beach.  And, if you have ever suffered the loss of a loved one, you know it is a confusing and emotional time. We learn about the Langley Hospice Society, and their incredible program for teens who are grieving a loss.

Summer 2018

Tv for teens, by teens - it's summer, and we have alot in store for you! First, we take you to the Dance Battle and Hip Hop event in Surrey, where local teens show off their killer moves!  Then, we check out an amazing film festival where youth get to decide on the winners. Next, we learn about how the "Sole Girls" made a difference on their recent trip to Cost Rica.  Then we present two short films from the Reel 2 Real Youth Film Festival, and finally, we go to White Rock to meet some up and coming youth ambassadors.

Taekwondo, Film School, and Teen Mental Health

On this episode, we take a Taekwondo lesson at Black Belt World in Maple Ridge.  Then we learn about 'Jack.Org', a national network dedicated to promoting mental health awareness for youth.  Next, we go behind the scenes at the Vancouver Film School to see how a movie is made.  Then we relax, and experience a meditative session with MPowerLives.  And finally, we check out another amazing short film from the Young Moviemakers.

Going Strong for 22 Years!

After 22 years on Shaw TV, "Gen Why?" will now air on the Shaw Multicultural Channel (still on Channel 4). Mini Gill, a school guidance councillor, started a magazine with a bunch of eager students back in 1994 called "Wet Graffiti". A year later, Rogers TV came on board to help create a television show for teens, by teens. They called it "Generation Why?". On this episode, we meet up with teens from Experiences Canada as they clean up our shoreline.  Then, we meet Madison Stewart, Miss Teen Canada 2017.  Next, we go to the "Balancing our Minds" conference on mental health, and, we meet a teen who is being recognized for her amazing research on dementia.  Then, the Jazz Hillbillies wow and entertain us with their formidable talents!  And finally, a look back over 22 years of incredible programming; we put together a small collection of some memorable moments.

Spring in White Rock

We are in sunny White Rock for a beautiful spring day, as our host Jasmine brings you stories for teens, by teens. First up, we check out a movie making film camp for teens and kids.  Then, we meet the students over at King David High, who are putting kindness into action.  Then, we meet up at 'The Drama Class', here in White Rock, to learn all about film and cartoon voice over acting.  Next, we talk to Dr. Vanessa Lapointe about the important topic of teens and their mental health.  And finally, we check out an awesome film produced by the Young Moviemakers program.

Relax and Inspire

On this episode, hosts Jasmin and Connor relax and get inspired. We start at Girlvana Yoga in North Vancouver.  Next, we work on our mental health by first getting into the Stigma Free Zone, and then learning some mindfulness techniques at the YMCA.  Then, we meet Frankie Bones, a young piano protege who proves you can do anything if you set your mind to it.  And finally, we meet a young man with Aspergers who helps others know that they are not alone.

TV by teens for teens!  Join our host Ben at this year's Surrey Youth Festival. We start off by learning how to cook, at the Dirty Apron Cooking School.  Then, we go rock climbing at The Hive in North Vancouver.  Next we head into nature and do our part to help out the salmon population.  Then, we go for a run with Sole Girls, and our student film feature this show is from the Golf Islands Film and Television School.  And make sure to watch to the end of the show to see the epic break dance battles!!

'Gen Why ?' a show for teens, by teens. Up first, our new reporter Cameron takes us to Operation Med School, a conference educating youth on the journey to a medical career.  Next, we meet a young woman who confronts her past, and turns it into a positive.  Then, we meet two students who are winning their struggle with anxiety.  Next we head to White Rock to check out musical theatre at The Drama Class, and finally, we feature a student film that's a modern twist on the Hansel and Gretel story.

The sun is out, and we're at the South Surrey Rec Centre. Then we head out to New Westminster to test our skills at Circus School.  And then we meet two teens that can jump higher than most people's height!  Then we learn everything you need to know about performing in a real live rock band.  Also, we talk with teens about their attitude towards drugs and alcohol, and finally, we learn about a healthy and easy way to have piece of mind and deal with stress!

Celebrating 20 years of Gen Why on Shaw Tv! 
On this show, Ben and Aidan take us to Wild Play Adventure Park in Maple Ridge.  Then we head over to Van City to get our finances in order.  Next, we meet a young man that's reaching out to others with ADHD using the latest technology, and then we go to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Langley.  Finally, we take a walk down memory lane - looking back at 20 years of Gen Why on Shaw TV!  Including a special interview featuring old footage and some star Gen Why alumni!

Join Ben as we explore TV for teens and by teens.  First up, we meet a female astronaut and get to take a helicopter ride!  Then, we meet teen golfing sensation, Taylor Patrick.  Next, we learn how teens get assistance in figuring out what to do after high school.  Then, we get to discover a different type of school system at Thomas Haney Secondary.  Finally, we have a submission from our student film segment. Watch out though, it's pretty scary!

Reporter, Helen, also tries out her skills on the balance beam at Dreams Gymnastics.

Join host, Miguel Ramos, on the peak of Vancouver - Grouse Mountain. Miguel learns how to snowboard, and finds out about some of the other activities up on the mountain. Reporters Helen and Lindsey also bring us stories about the Arts Umbrella opening up in Surrey, and the story of a Semiahmoo Secondary student who was awarded a $200,000 scholarship! Miguel also is behind the scenes at the auditions for this year's CBC News Day in BC.
